Welcome!

The Canberra Archaeological Society was formed in 1963 to cater for the needs of all people interested in archaeology. Monthly meetings are held at the Australian National University, with guest speakers talking on a range of topics from Australian prehistory to historical archaeology and classical studies. The Society is an Associate Member of the Federation of Australian Historical Societies.

Members have the opportunity to join in field work involving both site recording and excavation. No experience is necessary as training on the job is provided; enthusiasm is the only requirement and the aim is to enjoy the time in the field.

If you wish to become a member, simply download our membership form, fill it in, and send it in to us with your payment.

NEWS

CAS archives are available at the ACT Heritage Library, Level 1, Woden Library, Corinna Street, PHILLIP. Two of our valiant members sorted the chaos into order and compiled a list of the contents. Reports are on the open shelves and anyone can ask to access the archives. Please see this list of archive items.
